Jackie Baker
I’m a friendly, happy person who’s always smiling and loves talking to people so when my mum told me about the amazing opportunity in Reveal magazine; I grabbed it with both hands! Since it was only a few days before the deadline I grabbed my Dad’s camera and after talking about the wonderful world of My Space for two minutes sent it off! I’m still in shock that I’ve been lucky enough to be selected for boot camp. This whole experience has been fantastic! The auditions were so much fun, I’ve made lots of new friends and it’s truly inspiring to meet industry professionals who believe you have potential. My background is in journalism; I studied a multi-media journalism degree at Bournemouth University and specialised in television in my final year. I’ve always had a passion for television which is why I gained a lot of work experience, including a sought after work placement at Meridian Television in Kent. I don’t have the typical performing background but I do have lots of personality, charisma and a great sense of fun. I’m also a bit of a ‘showman’ and I like to talk – A LOT! I grew up in Essex and I’m on a mission to prove to the rest of the country that the Essex girl stereotype is so wrong! My hobbies include street jazz, sports, and volunteering with a charity called Age-Link which works against social exclusion of the elderly. We take the elderly on outings once a month and hold events like Christmas parties and boat trips. Most of Age-Link’s members are either wheelchair-bound or blind - so it makes a real difference to their lives. I also love music and can often be seen in the club shaking my booty on the dancefloor! Winning ‘Search for a presenter 2007’ would be an amazing dream come true for me! I’ve always had a passion for television and I have lots of ideas and enthusiasm. I’m a fast learner and love to get stuck in. I really think I could be an asset to Life TV so please make my dream come true and vote for me!
