Billy Walker

My name is Billy Walker and I was born on October 10th 1981 at the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven Cumbria.  I have been raised to a very high stanard by the three of the most wonderful people in the world - my Mam, Rhonda and my Grandparents Betty and Reggie! 

From an early age I was in school plays and shows and my Gran insists that I could have won an oscar at the dinner table at times with my 'performing' as she calls it!  At the age of 16 I went to the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and had my heart set on becoming the next Laurence Olivier.  Life kicked in and I realised I needed to make some money and as I wasn't that academic I took a loan out - bought a pa system and have been singing my little tootie of in pubs and clubs ever since.  I did a summer season in Benidorm (classy) and most recently performed along side two drag quees in a variety show in Turkey for 7 months in 2006!  Before this I also worked as cabin crew for Emirates Airlines (I'm writing a book on my time in Dubai - I hear emirates are worried and have sent out a hit man! ha).

As much as I love the Northern Working Mens Club Scene - and trust me it's a good laugh at tmes - in a phoenix nights kinda way - I was sitting in the dressing room last sunday night, looking at the lino floor surrounded by peach coloured walls lstening to old Bernard reading the bingo - and as he said "two little ducks - twenty two..." and a lady shouted "...'ere!" I thought 'Billy - you're gonna go to this audition for SFAP on Tues and you are going to do well and go to boot camp.  So here I come.  As my Gran says "It's about time we had some Cumbrian eye candy on the tele!"
