Job Description - Travel Agent (Consultant)
There are over 7000 travel agencies in the UK. A Travel Consultants job is to book flight, ship and coach/train tickets to the holidaymakers and businesses using a computerised system. Tickets are sold through the agency on behalf of travel companies. Although most travel agencies deal with mainly holiday flights some specialise in business travel. A travel consultant will also handle customer enquiries regarding visas, and currencies. Training & Qualifications ABTAC (Travel Agents Certificate) is the standard qualification for Travel Agents, which is available at some further education colleges. Personal Qualities Travel Consultants must enjoy working with the general public, have good communication skills.
