Job Description - Tour Guide
Travel and tourism are the biggest industries and the fastest growing in the world; many people enjoy working in the industry as it adds a touch of glamour and excitement to their working lives. A career as a tour guide could mean anything from conducting day trips around Manchester to Guiding people through the Congo. It can be an enjoyable and exciting career as you get to meet new people every tour and you can share your knowledge with others and help them enjoy their excursion. You may have to wear a uniform. Training & Qualifications No qualifications are needed to be a tour guide, but you will need to have a good knowledge of whatever field you would like to become a guide in. For example if you were conducting tours through London, you would need extensive knowledge of the area and of places of historic and general interest. Personal Qualities To be a tour guide you must have a friendly and helpful personality, enjoy meeting new people, be able to deal with problems if they arise and have a clear speaking voice.
