Job Description Studio Extra / Background Artist
In recent years it has become increasingly easier to find work as a TV/ Film extra, this is because at one time you were only allowed to work if you owned an equity card and it was notoriously difficult to be issued with one. It is not necessary to have an equity card now and the industry has opened it doors to new people. There are many new TV channels so the demand for extras is on the increase. To be an extra you can be male, female and any shape or size! Being an extra is a job where you are well looked after, as well as receiving a minimum of around £80 for a days work you will also receive meals. You can work full or part time as an extra. Training and Qualifications No qualifications or training are necessary to become an extra. The first step in becoming an extra is to put yourself on the books of an agency.
