Lots of people are now turning to alternative methods of healing to help with the every day stresses and strains of modern living. There are a variety of different therapies available including, acupuncture, aromatherapy, reflexology, different massage techniques, colour therapy, hypnotism and many others. Also medicinal treatment such as Chinese medicine, herbalism and homeopathy.
Training & Qualifications
There are so many different forms of Holistic Therapies that you may wish to pick a course that covers a variety of the therapies and then make a decision later as to what you would like to specialize in.
Personal Qualities
To practice any type of holistic therapy you must primarily believe in your treatments, be sympathetic towards your patients, and have the ability to listen carefully. Also you must possess good intuition and have a calm and level headed nature.

Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy has been around for over 3000 years and was practised daily by the Egyptians. Aromatherapist use essential oils to improve physical and mental wellbeing and also as a preventative for diseases. Essential oils are extracted from amongst other things flowers, plants and herbs. Each different plant oil possesses different therapeutic properties. The extracts can be used as cures in a variety of ways for example in massage, burners, inhalation and baths. Aromatherapy is especially good for people suffering from stress, and stress related illnesses and aids in relaxation. Essential oils have been used for thousands of years as medicines and fragrances.
Training & Qualifications
The Beaumont College of Natural Medicine, The Foundation for Aromatherapy Research and Education and The Australian School of awareness all offer training courses for people wishing to pursue a career in Aromatherapy.
Personal Qualities
To become an Aromatherapist you must have a keen interest in the healing properties of plants and herbs. You should have patience and sensitivity.
