Job Description - Professional Ice Hockey Player
Hockey is one of the oldest competitive sports and dates to before the Olympic Games. There have been ancient drawings dated back 4000 years showing men playing hockey. Modern Ice Hockey is quite a young sport and is said to originate from the English playing on the frozen Kingston Harbour in Canada in 1860. In 1879 two university students in Montreal put together the original rules with 9 players on each side. These days ice hockey is played with 6 players from each team on the ice at one time but the entire team can consist of 22 players. Training & Qualifications To become a professional Ice Hockey player you do not need qualifications but you do need dedication and a team spirit. Joining a local ice hockey club or school would be a good start. Personal Qualities To be a professional Ice Hockey player you must have a good knowledge of the rules and experience of playing ice hockey be physically fit, strong, and a team player.
